Konzept

In order to offer the consumer the greatest possible transparency, a comprehensive labelling system provides detailed data on egg origin.

This is how KAT eggs are labelled in Europe:
The lawmakers decided that from 1 January 2004 all eggs in Europe had to be identified with standardised labelling.
The labelling consists of three character strings, as in the following example:
1-DE-1234501

The first figure represents the form of rearing:
0 – organic rearing
1 – free-range rearing
2 – floor rearing
3 – cage rearing

The letter combination denotes the country of origin:
AT – Austria
BE - Belgium
CZ – Czech Republic
DE – Germany
DK - Denmark
ES - Spain
FI - Finland
FR - France
GR - Greece
HU - Hungary
IE - Ireland
IT - Italy
LU - Luxembourg
LT – Lithuania
LV - Latvia
NL - Netherlands
PL - Poland
PT - Portugal
SE - Sweden
SI – Slovenia
UK – United Kingdom

The laying farm number together with henhouse number (last digit) then follows.

In Italy and France letters are also used to identify the farm.
For example: 1-IT-123AB456 or 1-FR-ABC1
